Mushroom Innovations is proud to introduce our all new line of mushroom dryers, the MycoDRYER™! The MycoDRYER™ is a 6-quart containment system which utilizes the absorption power of our MycoBLUBALLS™, a color changing silica desiccant. When dry, the MycoBLUBALLS™, or desiccant, are a brilliant blue color. Once they have absorbed as much water as they can hold, the silica balls will turn a bright pink color indicating that they are ready to be renewed.

How MycoBLUBALLS™ work:

To renew the MycoBLUBALLS™ you simply bake them for 30-120* minutes @ 200-250°F* until they return to their original brilliant blue color. Alternatively, you may place the pink balls into a microwave safe container and microwave them on high for 10-15* minutes, usually around 12* minutes, or until they return to their original brilliant blue color.

The MycoDRYER™ also has a custom internal tray made of a plastic guard that we designed to create a barrier between the desiccant and your mushrooms. The plastic guard has a micro mesh screen attached to the backside to allow the moisture to still wick through to the desiccant and keep even the smallest of particles from falling through. Remove your mushrooms and the guard all at once utilizing our custom 3D printed finger loop that we’ve attached in the center for easy removal. Stop losing your mushrooms in a ball pit with flimsy window screen barriers that competitors use. Keep everything you grow with the MycoDRYER™!

What to expect: 

The MycoDRYER™ can take 24 hours to 1 week to fully dry your mushrooms. Make sure to keep it in the dark to preserve your mushrooms or long term. There is no electricity or moving parts to fail on this system. Mushrooms should be dry to a crisp and the stems should snap when you bend them. If they do not snap, they are not ready for long term storage and could possibly mold, depending on the moisture content within the mushrooms. We recommend to place your mushrooms into a paper towel for 6-24hrs in front of a fan to allow any standing moisture to dry up and then place your mushrooms into the MycoDRYER™ making a single layer across the supplied guard/rack and then place the guard back into the system on top of the MycoBLUBALLS™

* Times and temps may vary depending on your heating source, the power consumption and/or the insulation value of said heat source. Never leave your MycoBLUBALLS™ unattended while reactivating them with your oven or microwave. To reduce risk of damage and or fire start your reactivation at the lowest temperatures and times and then move up if you feel comfortable.

** Mushroom drying times can vary depending on the humidity and temperature levels of the local atmosphere around the unit. Placing unit is a cool dark place during use is advised for maximum effect. Mushrooms should be crisp dry where the stem will snap in half when pressure is applied. If mushrooms are not fully dry and bend when you apply pressure but do not break/snap then you risk the possibility of mold setting in and potency tapering off.
